U.S. Marshals Announce the Arrest of the Schrom Hills Park Shooters

Greenbelt, MD – The U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF) partnered with the Greenbelt Police Department, and other federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to track down and apprehend two juveniles wanted in connection with a shooting that injured five people in Schrom Hills Park on Aril 19. The juveniles, ages 14 and 16, were arrested by the U.S. Marshals’ task force on April 29, 2024.

The U.S. Marshals Service got involved after local detectives developed information that two students from Bowie High School were alleged to be involve in the shooting. The Greenbelt Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit worked diligently with the State’s Attorney’s Office to obtain arrest warrants for the suspects. Now that they have been arrested, these two juveniles face a variety of charges to include attempted homicide and are set to be tried as adults.

“Thanks to the fine work of Greenbelt Police Department detectives and our other law enforcement partners, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force was able to arrest these two juvenile suspects without further incident, stated Mathew Silverman, acting United States Marshal for the District of Maryland. “As an agency, the U.S. Marshals Service is proud to support such valiant efforts to improve public safety for the citizens of our communities.

The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force focuses resources and efforts on the enhancement of public safety and the reduction of violence within the National Capital Region, through the identification, investigation, and apprehension of fugitives wanted for egregious crimes against the community, while ensuring the equal application of Justice, Integrity, and Service for all.
